Team is coming together more and more
Our new interns Max and Mats have hit the ground running and were warmly welcomed on Saparua by the members of Toma Majo Lease and the Bintari Foundation. They were followed by Rintati and Zaïda, who in the meantime are working hard to make the Happy Green Islands network their own and are now getting to know people personally.
Paparisa TML as a waste knowledge center
Our home base, Paparisa TML, is doing exactly what it was meant to do: giving people the opportunity to work together toward clean, healthy, and sustainable small islands. In the meantime, waste teams have been formed in four villages. Together with the village councils, we’re working on designing affordable solutions that fit the realities of small islands.
Full speed ahead!
We’re incredibly happy with the support we’re receiving so we can continue our activities. Special thanks to the Papilaja family, who donated part of the proceeds from their UMAT PAPILAJA (family day) to Happy Green Islands. Danke Bae!
Another group we especially want to thank is the Storm student association in Utrecht. The members chose Happy Green Islands as their project of the year and raised over €5,800 in donations and proceeds from auctions and other actions. Huge thanks! We’d love to stay in touch! Keep following us—and keep informing new students about what we’re doing to make our world just a little more sustainable.
Someone who was saying goodbye to work anonymously donated their bonus to us: €1,800! Truly amazing!
Plans that have been on the shelf for a while can now finally move forward. We’re starting with the Eco Garden at the foundation building. You’ll read more about it in upcoming posts, so keep an eye on us.
There are many more people supporting us. We want to thank all of those “Waste Warriors”!
Full speed ahead! TOMA!!!
